The next fixtures are to go in #matchyup3 with these races in it;
Fixtures;
With the first matchup almost coming to a close we also start #matchup2
fixtures; the league table potistion is based on the premilenary results from #matchup1
This is the final part of the season and team previews, part 1 can be found here and part 2 here. The previews are based on the points scored in last years #PFCL3. It give an idea, but of course isn´t exact. Contender 21; Benni1000 Benni did his best to assemble an all German team, but missing out on Kittel, Degenkolb and Greipel it ment that he had to also go for non-German squad members;
Contender nr 22; leo_matlock Leo has 3 very strong GT cyclist; Uran, Fuglsang and George Bennett as the team leaders. If they all start in the same GT then he could be a candidate to grab the points victory for that GT. His 4th rider is McLay and as a sprint will grab good points for him. Mister John Deere is a very good pickup for the classics. Zabel, Debusschere and Arndt are usually the lead-out for others, but they could get the go for a couple of races to rider for their own chances. Cavendish was on his team last year but had many injuries, so not a lot of points. However Leo kept the faith and drafted him again for this season. Contender nr 23; JamieHaughey Jamie himself already called this team #TeamBalaPFP refering to his 2 leaders
Gizza's team looks great;
Contender nr 25; SmokeyTimRobbo First year on #PFCL and not the best first round of the draft as he missed out on Alaphilippe and Gaviria.
Contender nr 26; NietNathan Another Rookie on #PFCL, but no stranger to cycling games and it shows
Contender nr 27; JasperRenema Jasper had a stinker of a first round in the draft. He managed to grab the current World Champion in the women's peloton; Chantal Blaak, but that was the only one in the first round. In the second round he managed to grab big Tom Dumoulin which will be the team leader of course. Woundn't want to be against him in stage-races. Lutsenko and Rowe will have to be the spearheads for the spring classics. Hopefully the neo-pro's on WT level will be able to provide good points for his team Contender nr 28; manpt15 Miguel was last year Giro winner and although his team is not sprinter heavy, he could be a top performer in a GT once more.
Last contender nr 29; cyclingwins Pavlyu had the worst draft this season, only grabbing Alaphilippe in round 1 and Sivakov in round 2. He and plenty of money to spend, but was outbidded on almost al his key targets. However he managed to secure a lot of lower thier sprinters in the likes of Prades, Mezgec, Boivin, Belletti and van Genechten, and that is always good news. He has the team with the least points scored from last year, however is we would sort on number of matchups where there are points scored, he would be in the top10, so your guess is as good as mine. For those wondering about my team. Contender nr 30; ArjanZoer The strategy was to bid on the entire top 10 of last year in the first round of the draft and I ended up getting 4
There you have it. The total preview of the teams and the coming season. Once again, this is based on the results of last year and we'll just have to see who will come on top after the completed 58 matchups. As promised the other teams get a preview as well. Although many of them already have started scoring points as we are getting close to wrapping-up #matchup1. The first part of the season and team preview can be found here; link Contender nr 10; gianluca_malta
Contender nr 11; padsbets 2 of the top 3 from this team have the same target; Le Tour de France. This might be the best team for the GT win in the Tour de France!
Contender nr 12; deejvie At first glance no real leader in that team, but some very good youngsters in the team and a couple of very old veterans that really could grab some valuable points in the Team of manager Guus.
Contender nr 13: WarrenPhillip13 This team cannot be underestimated; Warren can be the surprise for this year.
Ironsscally has a nice mixture of stage-racers, sprinters and punchers. His obvious leaders are;
Contender nr 15; motorcycleMTNS Pam secured 2 of the best sprinters out there for yet another season of #PFCL.
Contender nr 16; BearTowell Winner of last years #PFCL3 and he used the winter periode to thing of the winning strategy for this season. And he though; sprinters are the key to succes. Almost all them have a good kick in them and will seal a lot op top15's and therefor points and might just give him the needed points to win his matchups
Contender nr 17; PJ_Jarvis Pete also has a good number of sprinters in his team and has a couple of strong men for the classics
Contender nr 18; jmaher92 James had a very good first round draft where he secured, Teuns, Woods, Stuyven, Senechal and Drucker. All very good and will grab a lot of point for him. In the second round he had lots of budget left, so he secured Porte to also have a shot at a GT victory. Also in the smaller races he has enough potential to grab points with the likes of Dehaes, van Keirsbulck and Wallays. A very complete team all together Contender nr 19; BlakeMarquesR Blake came in last in #PFCL3 and to prevent this from happening again, he turned to the ladies. His team leaders are mainly female with Borghini, Guarnier, Pieters, Hall and the two sisters Hannah & Alice Barnes. For the grand tours he has M.A. Lopez lined up and hopes he stays save this year. Personally I'm also interested if Ramon Sinkeldam will be allowed to go for victories in smaller races, or if he'll get lead-out duty. Contender nr 20; Mheuts75 Marcel has an interesting mixture of stage-racers, sprinters, punchers and classics man in his team. No real outspoken favorite in the team, but Adam Yates will be great in a good number of stage-races, same will go for S.L. Henao if he doesn't have domestique duties. Ewan already showed that he will be a force to be reckoned with in harder sprints and if Sep Vanmarcke can have a season without injury he will be among the top scorers in the league, I'm sure of it. Nizzolo is also an interesting pick-up as he's returning from an injury hampered season and will be score much more points and in matchups this season.
A couple of you suggested that I did a piece on which team I thought would be the biggest contenders for this season of #PFCL4 and I had to think about how I would rank or rate the teams. I could use my stats to sort out the better sprinters, cobbles, hill or the better GC men, but the problem there is that I don't have stats for the women (yet). So then I looked at last years results and give it a go to see who would have the best chance of winning based on last year. However, problem there was that we had 2 "small" changes; 1. now the top15 will score points, and 2. the points have slightly changed to accommodate the first change and put things in relevant perspective. So, I had to rerun the entire #PFCL3 with the new points system and the new team in order to get this result This is the total sorted by total points. I could also sort it on number of matchups that the points were grabbed, as that is also important to win fixtures and get league table points. The months is used to show in what part of the season the points were scored. However, this isn't exact of course, because season very, rider programs change, injuries can affect the previous or this season. And there is your dose of luck, where your opponent in the fixture where you have more of the sort that is required for the scheduled races as your opponent even though he has a better team. That's why #PFCL is still a great game to be in and something extra to let you root for riders during races. I won't go into detail about my team of course, but will have a look at my competition and top contenders Contenter nr 1; @CyclinghubTV
Contender nr 2; russelljosborne His best 2 contributors were on my team last year.
Contender nr 3; seegersmartijn His rookie year on PFCL, but in the draft he did already very good and assembled a balanced team. First thing we see when we look at Martijn his squad is the main points scorer of last year; Chris Froome. Will he be suspended and if so, for how long? That will make a big impact on the chances for this team. However in all fairness it will probably effect the GT matchups and the change to grab a GT victory rather than have a big impact on the outcome of the league I think.
Contender nr 4; comovaeso
Contender nr 5; jswadswad Looking at James team and you'd notice that he is very sprinter oriented.
Contender nr 6; rapouw Last year Rob ended as the top point scorer in the league and ended up 3rd in the League. He has some serious fire power in his team
Contender nr 7; clivusmaximus Not a contender in #PFCL3, but before that already in the game and this shows. Clive has managed to piece together a very decent team
Contender nr 8; justprocycling Another rookie on #PFCL, but also a great draft to gather the cyclists for his team
Contender nr 9; cyclingmole I think winner on #PFCL2, but second to last on #PFCL3; Mister David Hunter himself has a stunning team with a lot of potential. The steal of the entire draft for me, was Roglic as David got him for free
I will do the other teams later this week
Here is the result breakdown for #matchup1. I will try to keep this up to date, but as mentioned at the beginning, I might not update it every day. At the end of the matchup I give the winners a green color and the draws will be yellow. Also the league table will be updated and the link will be tweeted when that is done.
For now here are the results of #matchup1; Fixtures
We are almost there, the first matchup of #PFCL4. All the fixtures can be found on the top right of this blog under PFCL4 (or in this link) Calendar To see what races are included in the matchups, you can also find the calendar under PFCL4 (and here). Please bear in mind the the UCI calendar tents to have updates as the season progresses. I will try to factor them in as I find them. The sum of the available points should be round 8000 for every matchup, that way all have potentially the same weight. Also behind the matchup the draft team is indicated, this means for example that for the first 9 matchups the current drafted teams will be used. If somebody feels the need to make a change and release and redraft a certain cyclists, then this alteration will be taken into account with matchup 10 and onward, etc... #Matchup1 The first matchup consists of 4 races.
The first fixtures will be;
And that concludes round 4 and the whole initial draft for that matter as all team are now full. This is the team that will be used in the coming matchups. This could be the team that you want to use for the entire season for that matter.
However if you do want to make a change, the next possibility is after the 9th matchup (according to the current calendar, this will be around March 18th). I will post the deadline for releasing cyclists and all teams who have released a cyclist (and get half the value refunded) can spend their remaining budget on a replacement, or the same cyclists -yes I'm talking about you @jswadswad- ;-) More info will follow in due time Back to the current draft; Here are the results of round 4. |
